Getting There

  • Car

    From Semuc Champey, head southeast on the road towards Lanquin. Drive for approximately 8 kilometers until you reach the junction near the entrance to the Semuc Champey National Park. Continue straight on this road, which will become unpaved. Follow the signs for Cuevas de K’anba. After around 4 kilometers, you will see a small sign indicating the entrance to Cuevas de K’anba on your left. There is parking available near the entrance.

  • Public Transportation

    From Semuc Champey, walk to the main road and look for a 'pick-up' truck or shuttle heading towards Lanquin. The fare is typically around 10-20 GTQ per person. Let the driver know you want to go to Cuevas de K’anba. The journey will take about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the entrance to Cuevas de K’anba, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the cave entrance, so wear comfortable shoes.

  • Hiking

    If you're feeling adventurous and are staying near the entrance of Semuc Champey, you can hike to Cuevas de K’anba. Start by heading southeast on the main trail leading out of Semuc Champey. Follow the trail for about 4 kilometers until you reach the main road. From there, you can either hitch a ride or continue on foot towards the Cuevas de K’anba entrance. The hike should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and be sure to bring plenty of water.
