Getting There

Car
From Cobán, head northwest on CA-9. Continue on CA-9 for about 40 km. At the junction near the town of San Juan Chamelco, take the exit toward Lachuá Lake. Follow the signs for approximately 20 km until you reach the entrance of Lachuá Lake National Park. There is an entrance fee of approximately Q50 per person.

Public Transportation
From Cobán, take a bus to Santa María Cahabón. Buses leave from the main bus terminal often throughout the day. The ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs around Q25. Once in Santa María Cahabón, you can find a local pickup truck (picop) heading to the entrance of Lachuá Lake. The cost for the pickup is approximately Q20 and the ride takes about 40 minutes.

Once you arrive at the entrance of Lachuá Lake National Park, you may need to walk to the lake itself. The walking trail is well-marked and takes about 30 minutes. Be prepared for a moderate hike through lush vegetation.
