Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Bartica, which is a common entry point to the Mazaruni River area. Head southeast on the Bartica-Mazaruni Road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Maswa. Turn left at this junction. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach a fork. Take the right fork, and you will be guided towards Bonasika Creek. Follow the signs for Bonasika and keep an eye on your GPS for the coordinates 6.7478° N, 58.5093° W. The last stretch may be unpaved, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. Parking is generally available near the creek.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Georgetown to Bartica; this typically takes around 3-4 hours and costs approximately GYD 2000-3000. Once in Bartica, you can take a taxi or minibus to Maswa. The fare for this leg of the journey is around GYD 500-1000. Ask the driver to drop you off at the junction leading to Bonasika Creek. From there, you may need to walk for about 1-2 kilometers along the unpaved road to reach the creek. It is recommended to ask locals for directions as well, as they can provide guidance on the best route.
