Car
If you are traveling by car from Mazaruni River, start by taking the main road leading out of the village. Follow this road for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the junction at 'Arau Village.' Turn left at the junction and continue for about 5 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the signpost indicating Tawokoni State Park. The park entrance will be on your right. Note that the road may be unpaved and bumpy in parts, so drive cautiously.
Public Transportation
To reach Tawokoni State Park via public transportation, locate the nearest bus stop in Mazaruni River. You will need to catch a bus heading towards Arau Village. The bus ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on road conditions. Once you arrive in Arau Village, ask the driver or locals for directions to the park entrance. It’s about a 5-kilometer walk from the bus stop to the park. Alternatively, you may hire a motorbike taxi (known as 'boda boda') for a quicker ride to the park entrance.
Motorbike Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a motorbike taxi from Mazaruni River to Tawokoni State Park. The fare should be negotiated before the ride. Expect to pay around 1000-1500 GYD for the trip, which takes about 20 minutes. Ensure the driver knows the exact location of the park entrance, which is approximately 5 kilometers from Arau Village.
