Getting There

  If you are driving from Cap-Haïtien or any location in Nord, take Route Nationale 1 heading towards the north. Follow the signs for Milot and then continue until you reach the town of Vaseux. Once in Vaseux, look for signs directing you to Laferriere Citadel (Citadelle Laferrière). The final stretch involves a steep ascent to the citadel, and you may need to park your car at a designated area before walking up to the main entrance. Be prepared for a short hike, as the citadel is located at a high altitude. Parking fees might apply, so check for signage once you arrive.

  To reach Laferriere Citadel using public transportation, you can catch a 'tap-tap' (shared taxi) from Cap-Haïtien to Milot. The fare is usually around 50 HTG. Once you reach Milot, you can find another tap-tap or a motorcycle taxi that can take you to Vaseux. Make sure to confirm that the driver knows where Laferriere Citadel is located, as some may not be familiar. The cost for the motorcycle taxi should be around 150-200 HTG.
