Car
From the center of Cap-Haïtien, drive towards the north on Route Nationale 1 (RN1) for about 10 kilometers. As you approach the town of Quartier Morin, keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to Fort Picolet. Continue driving until you reach the area marked QRM6+396 rival beach. The fort is located near the beach and is easily accessible from the main road. Make sure to park your vehicle in a safe area nearby.
Public Transportation (Tap-Tap)
Starting from downtown Cap-Haïtien, locate a Tap-Tap (shared taxi) heading towards Quartier Morin or Rival Beach. The fare typically ranges from 25 to 50 HTG (Haitian Gourdes) per person. Inform the driver that you want to go to Fort Picolet. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Rival Beach, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the fort. Be prepared to pay a small fee if there is an entrance charge.
Motorbike Taxi (Mototaxi)
If you're looking for a quicker way to reach Fort Picolet, consider taking a mototaxi from Cap-Haïtien. You can find these motorbike taxis near major intersections or tourist areas. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 150-300 HTG depending on your location in the town. The ride will be fast, but ensure you wear a helmet and follow safety precautions. Ask the driver to take you to Rival Beach, where Fort Picolet is located.
