Car
From La Ceiba, drive towards the northern coast of Honduras. You will take the CA-13 highway heading east. After approximately 10 kilometers, follow the signs to the ferry terminal for Cayo Cochinos. Once you reach the terminal, you can park your car in the designated parking area (note that there is usually a parking fee). The ferry to Cayos Cochinos departs regularly, and tickets can be purchased at the terminal. The ferry ride takes about 30-45 minutes.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a local bus from the La Ceiba bus terminal to the nearby town of La Masica or directly to the ferry terminal for Cayos Cochinos. The bus journey typically costs around 30-50 Lempiras and lasts about 1 hour. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, purchase your ferry ticket to Cayos Cochinos, and board the ferry for a scenic ride to the islands.
Boat Transfer
Once you arrive at Cayos Cochinos, you may need to arrange a local boat transfer to Tres posas. It is advisable to ask locals or your accommodation for assistance in organizing this transfer. The cost of a boat ride can vary, but expect to pay around 500-1000 Lempiras depending on the distance and number of passengers. The boat ride may take approximately 10-20 minutes.
Walking
After arriving at Tres posas by boat, you can explore the area by walking along the beach and surrounding trails. The location is relatively small, so you can easily navigate it on foot. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as there may not be facilities nearby.
