Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey in La Paz, the capital of the La Paz Region. Drive south on CA-5 towards Comayagua. The drive will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you reach Comayagua, look for signs directing you to Cerro El Picacho. The specific turn-off is located just outside the city. Follow the local signage to the entrance of the park. Be prepared for a short drive on a gravel road leading up to the base of the mountain.

  For those using public transportation, start at the central bus terminal in La Paz. Look for a bus heading to Comayagua, which departs regularly throughout the day.   If you prefer a more direct route from Comayagua, you can take a taxi directly to Cerro El Picacho from the city. This option is ideal if you have a group, as you can split the fare. Taxis are readily available at various points in the city, and the trip will take around 30 minutes. Remember to negotiate the fare before starting your journey, which may cost between 200 and 300 Lempiras.

• Hiking

  Once you arrive at the base of Cerro El Picacho, you will need to hike to reach the peak. The hike is relatively moderate and can take around 1 to 2 hours depending on your fitness level.
