The final stretch will be a smaller road (X346) leading directly to the lagoon. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as some roads may be unpaved.

If you are using public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from your location in the Río Platano region to La Mosquitia. Once in La Mosquitia, you can catch a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Bruner. Inform the driver you wish to go to Laguna de Bacalar, as many drivers are familiar with this destination. The fare should be around 50-100 Lempiras (approximately $2-4 USD). After reaching Bruner, you may need to walk or find a local taxi to take you directly to the lagoon.
