Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach the 1956-os emlékmű at Bakáts tér 4, 1092 Budapest, start by making your way to the nearest metro station. If you are in the city center, you can take Metro Line 3 (the blue line) from Deák Ferenc tér towards Újpest-Központ. Get off at Ferenciek tere and transfer to Metro Line 4 (the green line). Take the train towards Keleti pályaudvar and get off at the next stop, Fővám tér. From there, exit the station and head east on Fővám tér towards Vámház körút. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach Ráday utca, then turn left. Walk along Ráday utca until you reach Bakáts tér. The memorial is located on your right at Bakáts tér 4.

  • Walking

    If you are already in the vicinity (for example, near the Great Market Hall), you can reach the 1956-os emlékmű by walking. From the Great Market Hall, head west on Vámház körút. Continue straight for about 700 meters until you reach Ráday utca. Turn right onto Ráday utca and walk about 300 meters until you reach Bakáts tér. The memorial will be on your left at Bakáts tér 4.

  • Tram

    You can also take Tram Line 2 to reach the 1956-os emlékmű. If you are near the Parliament building, board Tram 2 at Kossuth Lajos tér and ride it towards Jászai Mari tér. Get off at the stop called 'Híd utca.' From there, walk southeast along Híd utca until it turns into Bakáts utca. Continue straight for about 600 meters, and you will arrive at Bakáts tér. The memorial is located at Bakáts tér 4.
