If you are already in the Inner City, you can easily walk to St. Stephen's Basilica. Start by heading towards the iconic Deák Ferenc tér square, which is a central hub for pedestrians. From Deák Ferenc tér, walk along the busy Rakoczi utca street until you reach the intersection with Bajcsy-Zsilinszky utca. Turn right onto Bajcsy-Zsilinszky utca and continue walking straight until you see the beautiful St. Stephen's Basilica at Szent István tér 1. The walk should take around 10-15 minutes, and you will be able to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Inner City along the way.
Public Transport (Metro)
For those who prefer to use public transport, the nearest metro station is Deák Ferenc tér, which is accessible via Metro Line 1 (Yellow line), Line 2 (Red line), or Line 3 (Blue line). From Deák Ferenc tér, take Metro Line 1 towards Újpest-Központ and get off at the next stop, which is Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út. Exit the station and walk straight towards the Szent István tér. The Basilica will be directly in front of you. The metro ticket costs around HUF 350 (approximately $1.15).
Public Transport (Tram)
You can also reach St. Stephen's Basilica by tram. From Deák Ferenc tér, take tram number 2 or 47 from the nearby tram stop. If you're on tram number 2, get off at the stop called 'Kossuth Lajos tér' and walk straight towards the Basilica, which is about a 5-minute walk. If you take tram number 47, get off at the 'Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út' stop and walk towards Szent István tér. The tram ticket costs approximately HUF 350 (around $1.15).
