Car
If you're traveling by car, navigate to Budapest, District I. Use GPS coordinates 47.4962048, 19.0395666. From the M1 or M7 motorways, follow signs for Budapest and then for Buda Castle. There are several parking facilities nearby, including the underground garage at the Buda Castle. Be aware that parking fees apply, typically around 500 HUF per hour.
Public Transportation - Metro
Take the M2 (red line) metro to Deák Ferenc tér station. From there, transfer to the tram line 2, heading towards Jászai Mari tér. Get off at the Szent Gellért Tér stop, and then either walk uphill to Buda Castle or take the funicular railway from Clark Ádám tér to the castle. The funicular costs about 1200 HUF for a round trip. The total journey time is approximately 30-40 minutes.
Public Transportation - Bus
If you prefer to take the bus, board bus number 16 or 16A from Széll Kálmán tér (formerly known as Moszkva tér). This bus will take you directly to the Buda Castle area. The fare for a single ticket is around 350 HUF and can be purchased at ticket machines or onboard (may incur a small surcharge). The journey takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Walking
If you are staying nearby, consider walking to Buda Castle. The area is well signposted, and the walk from the city center (such as from the Chain Bridge) is approximately 20-30 minutes. This route offers beautiful views of the Danube River and the Pest side of the city as you make your way up to the castle.
