Getting There

• Train

  From Tatabánya, make your way to the Tatabánya train station (Tatabánya Vasútállomás). You can walk to the station by heading northeast on Táncsics Mihály utca, then turn left onto Kossuth Lajos utca. The station is about a 15-20 minute walk. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Budapest Nyugati pályaudvar. The train ride takes approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival at Budapest Nyugati, exit the station and take tram number 4 or 6 from the nearby tram stop towards Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at the stop called 'Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út' and walk about 10 minutes towards Széchenyi István tér, where you will find the Ferenc Deák Statue.

• Bus

  Head to the Tatabánya bus station (Tatabányai Autóbusz-állomás). You can walk there by going northeast on Táncsics Mihály utca, turning left on Kossuth Lajos utca, and continuing straight until you reach the bus station, which should take around 15 minutes. Once at the bus station, look for a bus heading to Budapest. The journey usually takes about 1.5 hours. When you arrive at the Budapest bus terminal, look for public transport connections such as the Metro. Take Metro Line 2 (the red line) towards Déli Pályaudvar. Get off at the 'Deák Ferenc tér' station and follow the signs to Széchenyi István tér, which is just a short walk away.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to experience the local scenery, I would recommend walking to the Ferenc Deák Statue directly. Start at the center of Tatabánya, head east on Táncsics Mihály utca, then turn left onto Kossuth Lajos utca. Continue straight until you reach the train station, then follow the earlier instructions to travel to Budapest Nyugati by train. Once in Budapest, on foot, head towards Széchenyi István tér, where you will find the Ferenc Deák Statue. This journey may take several hours, so ensure you have comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated.
