From Tatabánya, take the local train from Tatabánya railway station towards Budapest. The train ride takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Budapest Déli railway station, exit the platform and follow the signs for the Metro. Take Metro Line 2 (the red line) towards Déli pályaudvar. After one stop, get off at the 'Kossuth Lajos tér' station. From here, walk towards the Danube River. Cross the Széchenyi Chain Bridge on foot. After crossing the bridge, continue walking straight until you reach the Hunyadi János lépcső, where the Schulek Staircase is located.

If you are already in the center of Budapest, start at the Buda Castle. Head towards the Fisherman’s Bastion and from there, walk down the street towards Hunyadi János lépcső. The Schulek Staircase is located right by the stairs leading down towards the riverbank. This walk should take about 10-15 minutes.

From Tatabánya, you can take a direct bus to Budapest. Board the bus at Tatabánya bus station, which usually has connections to various parts of Budapest.
