Car
If traveling by car, head towards Szigliget from the nearest major city in Central Transdanubia, such as Székesfehérvár or Veszprém. From Székesfehérvár, take Route 8 towards Veszprém. After about 30 kilometers, take the exit for Route 71 towards Balaton. Follow Route 71 for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the town of Szigliget. Once in Szigliget, follow signs to the fortress. Parking may be available nearby, but check local signs for possible fees.
Public Transportation
To reach Szigliget by public transportation, begin your journey by taking a train or bus to Veszprém. From Budapest, you can catch an hourly train to Veszprém that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Veszprém, you can take a regional bus (Bus 16 or 16A) that heads towards Szigliget. The bus ride will take around 30-40 minutes. Be sure to check the local schedules for bus times and purchase a ticket, which usually costs around 400-600 HUF. Once you arrive in Szigliget, follow signs to the fortress.
