If you are driving from any location in Mátra, take Route 21 towards the city of Gyöngyös. Once in Gyöngyös, merge onto Route 3 (E71) towards Budapest. Continue on Route 3 for approximately 70 km. As you approach Budapest, the route will turn into the M3 motorway. Follow the signs for 'Budapest' and take Exit 19 towards 'Kerepes' and 'Örs vezér tere'. Continue straight until you reach Hősök tere (Heroes' Square). There is paid parking available nearby, so be prepared to pay for parking, which typically costs around 200-400 HUF per hour.

To reach Heroes' Square using public transportation, first take a bus or a train from your location in Mátra to the nearest major train station, which is in Gyöngyös. From Gyöngyös, take a train to Budapest's Keleti Railway Station (approximately 1.5 hours). Once you arrive at Keleti, exit the station and take Metro Line 2 (the red line) towards Déli Pályaudvar. Get off at the 'Széchenyi fürdő' station. From there, Heroes' Square is a short 10-minute walk. Follow the signs leading to Széchenyi Thermal Bath, and you will find yourself at Heroes' Square. Keep in mind that a train ticket from Gyöngyös to Budapest costs around 1,000 HUF.
