Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Mátra and follow the signs towards Budapest. The most common route is to take the M3 motorway. Once you reach Budapest, take exit 16 for Kerepesi út toward the city center. Continue on Kerepesi út, which becomes Rákóczi út, and follow it until you reach Blaha Lujza tér. From there, turn onto Rákóczi út and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Kossuth Lajos tér. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that parking fees apply, usually around 400 HUF per hour.
Public Transport - Train
To reach Kossuth Lajos Square using public transportation, take a train from the nearest station in Mátra to Budapest's Keleti Railway Station. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes approximately 1-2 hours depending on the service. Upon arrival at Keleti, exit the station and take Metro Line 2 (the red line) towards Déli pályaudvar. Transfer at Deák Ferenc tér to Metro Line 3 (the blue line) towards Újpest-Központ. Disembark at Kossuth Lajos tér station, which is directly at the square.
Public Transport - Bus
If you prefer to travel by bus, take a bus from Mátra to Budapest. The most convenient options usually involve taking a bus to Népliget bus station in Budapest. Once at Népliget, you can take Metro Line 3 (the blue line) towards Újpest-Központ and get off at Kossuth Lajos tér. Bus tickets cost around 2,000 HUF for a single trip and can be purchased at the station.
