Car
If you are traveling by car from Mátra to St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest, take the M3 motorway towards Budapest. The journey is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you reach Budapest, follow signs towards the city center and then to District V. The basilica is located at Szent István tér 1. There is paid parking available nearby, so be prepared to pay for parking upon arrival.
Public Transportation
To reach St. Stephen's Basilica using public transportation, first take a bus or train from Mátra to Budapest. Depending on your starting point in Mátra, you can take the bus to Gyöngyös and then catch a train to Budapest. Once you arrive at Budapest's Nyugati railway station, you can take Metro Line 3 (the blue line) towards Kőbánya-Kispest. Get off at the Deák Ferenc tér station. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the basilica. Follow the signs towards Szent István tér, and you will find the basilica at the end of the square.
