Public Transport - Train
From Tatabánya, walk to the Tatabánya train station. Purchase a ticket to Budapest. Trains run frequently, so check the schedule for the next departure. After approximately 1 hour, you will arrive at Budapest-Nyugati Railway Station. Once you exit the station, head towards the metro station (M3 - blue line) located inside the train station. Take the M3 metro towards Kőbánya-Kispest and get off at the Deák Ferenc tér station (3 stops). At Deák Ferenc tér, switch to the M1 metro line (yellow line) and take it towards Mexikói út, getting off at the final stop. Exit the metro station and walk towards Erzsébet tér. The Underground Railway Museum is located at Erzsébet tér 14, just a short walk from the metro exit.
Public Transport - Bus
From Tatabánya, take bus number 2 to reach the Tatabánya train station. After arriving at the station, purchase a train ticket to Budapest. Follow the same instructions as the train option above. Once in Budapest, take the M3 metro line from Nyugati to Deák Ferenc tér, and then switch to the M1 metro line towards Mexikói út. Get off at the final stop and walk towards Erzsébet tér 14 to reach the Underground Railway Museum.
Walking
If you are already in the city center of Tatabánya, simply head towards the main bus or train station. From there, use the public transport options described above to reach Budapest. Direct walking to Budapest is not feasible, as it is approximately 60 kilometers away.
Taxi
For a more convenient option, you can call a local taxi service from Tatabánya to take you directly to Budapest. Ensure to specify Erzsébet tér 14 as your destination. This option may be more expensive but will save you time and effort.
