Start at Zalaegerszeg's central bus station (Zalaegerszeg autóbusz-állomás). From there, take bus number 1 towards Zalaegerszeg Munkás utca. This bus operates frequently, so you shouldn’t have to wait long. After about 15 minutes, get off at the stop named Zalaegerszeg Munkás utca. From this point, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Lake Bukovniško. Head east on Munkás utca, which will merge into Kossuth Lajos utca. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rákóczi Ferenc utca. Turn left onto Rákóczi Ferenc utca and follow it until you reach the entrance to the lake area.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the rental services in Zalaegerszeg. Start from the city center and head towards the bike path along Zalaegerszeg's main roads. Follow the signs leading to Lake Bukovniško, which is accessible via cycling paths. The route is approximately 5 kilometers long. You will pass through several parks, which is a nice diversion before reaching the lake. Make sure to keep an eye out for directional signs leading to the lake.

For a scenic walk, start from the Zalaegerszeg city center (Kossuth Lajos tér). Walk east along Kossuth Lajos utca, which you will follow for about 2 kilometers until it merges into Rákóczi Ferenc utca. Continue on Rákóczi Ferenc utca, which will lead you directly to the lake area. This walk takes approximately 30 minutes and allows you to enjoy the local architecture and parks along the way.
