Car
From any location in the Zemplen Mountains, head towards the nearest major road leading to Budapest. Use GPS or a map app to navigate to Budapest, Szent István tér 1, 1051. The journey may take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Upon reaching Budapest, follow the signs to the city center, and look for parking options near the Basilica. Paid parking is available in the area, typically costing around 300 HUF per hour.
Public Transportation
Take a bus or train from your current location in the Zemplen Mountains to Budapest. The most common route is to travel to the nearest train station and board a train to Budapest's Nyugati or Keleti station. Once in Budapest, take the Metro line M3 (blue line) to Deák Ferenc tér station. Transfer to the M2 (red line) towards Déli pályaudvar and get off at the next stop, which is the Basilica’s nearest station, Kossuth Lajos tér. Walk about 5 minutes to reach St. Stephen's Basilica at Szent István tér 1. Ticket prices for trains and buses vary but usually range from 1,000 to 3,000 HUF depending on the distance.
