    If you are comfortable riding a bicycle, you can rent one from a local shop in Borgarnes. Start at the center of Borgarnes and take the road that leads south towards Route 1 (the Ring Road). Once on Route 1, head east towards Reykjavík. Continue for about 40 kilometers until you reach the signs for Thingvellir National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance.     Walking to Thingvellir National Park from Borgarnes is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 40 km). However, if you are determined, head south from Borgarnes center towards Route 1.
