Walking
From the center of Borgarnes, start at the Borgarnes Museum. Head northeast on Aðalgata Street towards the intersection with Húsatóftir. Continue straight until you reach the main road, Route 1 (also called the Ring Road). Turn left onto Route 1 and follow the road for about 3 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to Hengill. As you approach, look for a marked trail or viewpoint area where you can access the volcano site.

If you have rented a bicycle in Borgarnes, start from the town center and head northeast on Aðalgata Street. After reaching the intersection with Húsatóftir, take a right onto Route 1. Cycle along the Ring Road for approximately 3 kilometers. Pay attention to the signs for Hengill; you may find bike paths or dedicated lanes as you get closer to the area. Look for parking areas where you can lock your bike before exploring the volcano.
