From the center of Borgarnes, head east on Borgarbraut (the main road). Continue walking straight for about 2.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 1 (the Ring Road). At this intersection, you'll see a sign for Hraunfossar. Turn left onto Route 1 and walk for another 36 kilometers. You'll pass through beautiful landscapes and small towns along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs for Hraunfossar, which will direct you to the parking area and walking trails leading to the waterfall.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Borgarnes. Start at the main square and head east on Borgarbraut. Continue straight for about 2.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 1 (the Ring Road). Here, turn left onto Route 1. The ride to Hraunfossar will be approximately 36 kilometers, and the route is relatively flat, making it a pleasant ride. Look out for signs indicating Hraunfossar, which will guide you to the parking area and trail to the waterfall.
Public Transport
From Borgarnes, you can catch a bus that travels along Route 1 towards Reykholt. Check the local bus schedule for the latest departure times. Once you board the bus, inform the driver that you would like to get off at Hraunfossar. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. After getting off, follow the signs leading to the waterfall, which is a short walk from the bus stop.
