Getting There

Walking
From the center of Borgarnes, head east on Borgarbraut towards the main road. Continue walking straight until you reach the bus stop near the Borgarnes swimming pool at the intersection. From there, catch the bus heading to Reykjavík. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Reykjavík, get off the bus at Hlemmur bus station. After exiting the bus, walk towards the street called Laugavegur, heading southeast. Continue straight until you reach the waterfront area, then turn left onto Grandagarður. The Reykjavík Maritime Museum will be on your right at Grandagarður 8.

If you are comfortable biking, rent a bicycle in Borgarnes. Start by heading east on Borgarbraut towards the main road. Continue straight until you reach the bus stop near the Borgarnes swimming pool. From there, take the cycle path that leads to Reykjavík. Follow the signs for the designated bike routes. As you approach Reykjavík, look for signs directing you to the waterfront. Once you reach the waterfront, take a right on Grandagarður, and the Reykjavík Maritime Museum will be on your right at Grandagarður 8.

From Borgarnes, make your way to the bus terminal located in the town center. Purchase a ticket for the bus to Reykjavík. The bus will take approximately 1 hour. Upon arriving at the Reykjavík bus terminal, follow the signs to the nearest exit. From there, walk towards Hlemmur bus station. Once outside, take a right on Laugavegur and continue straight until you reach the waterfront. Turn left onto Grandagarður and walk along the waterfront until you see the Reykjavík Maritime Museum at Grandagarður 8 on your right.
