Car
If you are traveling by car within the Eastern Region, you will find it easy to reach Húsavík Whale Museum. From Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. After approximately 90 km, take the exit towards Húsavík (Route 85). Follow Route 85 until you reach Húsavík, which is about 40 km away. Once in Húsavík, navigate to Hafnarstétt 1. The museum is located near the harbor, and there is public parking available in the area, which may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, you can take a bus from Akureyri to Húsavík. The bus departs from Akureyri's main bus station; check the schedule on the Strætó website for current timings. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at Húsavík bus station, it's about a 15-minute walk to the Húsavík Whale Museum. Head south towards the harbor, and follow the signs to Hafnarstétt 1. Ensure you check the return schedule for buses back to Akureyri as service may be limited in the evening.
