Car
If you are driving from Egilsstaðir, head west on Route 1 for approximately 200 km. Follow the signs towards Akureyri and take the exit onto Route 82 towards Akureyri. After around 12 km, you will arrive in Akureyri. Once in the city, follow the signs to Kaupvangsstræti, where the Rainbow footpath starts. There is limited parking available near the footpath entrance, so be sure to arrive early.

To reach the Rainbow footpath using public transportation, take a bus from Egilsstaðir to Akureyri. The bus service is provided by Strætó, and it typically takes around 3 hours. Once you arrive at the Akureyri bus station, you can walk to Kaupvangsstræti, which is about a 15-minute walk. Look for signs directing you to Kaupvangsstræti 8-12, where the footpath begins.

If you are already in Akureyri, you can easily walk to the Rainbow footpath. From the city center, head north towards Kaupvangsstræti. The walk is approximately 1.5 km and should take around 20 minutes. Make sure to check local maps or ask locals for directions if needed.
