Walking
Start your journey from the center of Grindavik, near the main square where you'll find the local shops and cafes. Head southwest on Aðalgata street towards the coast. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Kalmansbraut. Turn left onto Kalmansbraut. Keep walking for about 1.5 kilometers (approximately 20-25 minutes). As you approach the area, look for the trail leading to Eldborg, which will be on your right. Follow the trail to reach Eldborg next to Geitahlíð, which is a distinctive volcanic crater with stunning views.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, rent one from a local shop in Grindavik. Start at the bike rental shop and head southwest on Aðalgata street towards the coast. Merge onto Kalmansbraut and continue for about 1.5 kilometers. The biking trip should take around 10-15 minutes. Look for the signs or trails that lead to Eldborg on your right. Enjoy the ride and the scenic views as you approach the crater.
Hiking
For an adventurous hike to Eldborg, begin at the Grindavik hiking club headquarters located in the town center. Start your hike following the designated hiking trails that head towards Kalmansbraut. Make sure to bring water and snacks, as the hike can take about 1 hour depending on your pace. Follow the signs for Eldborg, and as you approach Kalmansbraut, look for the path on your right that leads to the crater. Enjoy exploring the unique geological features of Eldborg.
