Car
From Hengifoss Waterfall, drive back towards the main road (Route 1). Head south on Route 1 for about 12 kilometers until you see the turnoff for the Svartifoss Trail. The entrance to the trail is well-marked. Park your car at the designated parking area. The hike to Hundafoss will begin from here.
Hiking
After parking at the Svartifoss Trail parking area, follow the marked trail. The hike to Hundafoss takes approximately 1 hour (2 km) along a well-maintained path. Follow the signs for Hundafoss; the trail is scenic and will lead you through beautiful landscapes. Ensure you have appropriate footwear and water, as the trail can be uneven.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Egilsstaðir to the nearest stop on Route 1. You may need to check local schedules for bus times. Once you arrive at the bus stop, it is about a 12-kilometer walk to the Svartifoss Trail entrance. Consider arranging a taxi from the bus stop to the trailhead if walking is not feasible.
