Head towards the east and follow the signs for Kvernufoss. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers (about 3.1 miles) and takes around 1-1.5 hours one way. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views along the way, but be prepared for some uneven terrain.

If you have access to a car, start from the Hengifoss parking area. Drive back to Route 1 (the main Ring Road) and head south towards the town of Egilsstaðir. Note that a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for this gravel road due to its rough conditions.
