From Hengifoss Waterfall, start your trek towards Kvernufoss by following the marked hiking path. The trail begins at the Hengifoss parking lot. Head towards the east and follow the signs for Kvernufoss. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers (about 3.1 miles) and takes around 1-1.5 hours one way. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views along the way, but be prepared for some uneven terrain.

If you have access to a car, start from the Hengifoss parking area. Drive back to Route 1 (the main Ring Road) and head south towards the town of Egilsstaðir. After about 10 kilometers, look for the sign for Kvernufoss on your right. Turn onto the gravel road and follow it for about 3 kilometers until you reach the parking area for Kvernufoss. Note that a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for this gravel road due to its rough conditions.

If you are relying on public transportation, you will need to take a bus from Egilsstaðir to the closest stop near Kvernufoss. Buses may not run frequently, so check the schedule ahead of time.
