Car
To reach Hjálparfoss by car from the Highlands, start by driving south on Route 32 (Þingvallavegur). Continue on this road for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction with Route 1 (the Ring Road). Turn left onto Route 1 and drive for about 15 km. Look for the sign for Route 3361, which is Hjálparvegur, and turn right. Follow Hjálparvegur for about 5 km, and you will arrive at the parking area for Hjálparfoss. The waterfall is a short walk from the parking lot.

Currently, public transportation options to Hjálparfoss are limited. However, you can take a bus from Reykjavík to Hella (Bus #51). From Hella, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Hjálparfoss, as there are no direct buses to the waterfall. Expect the taxi fare to be around 15,000 ISK for the one-way trip. Make sure to confirm the availability of taxis in advance, as they may not always be readily available.
