Getting There

  • Bus

    From Husavik, start at the main bus station located in the town center. Look for the bus that heads towards Mývatn and check the schedule for the next departure. The journey takes about 1 hour. Get off at the stop for 'Mývatn' or 'Víti.' From the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 10-15 minutes toward the Víti crater. Follow the signs towards the geothermal area, and you will see the crater from a distance.

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Husavik. Start your ride heading east on Route 85. Continue until you reach the intersection with Route 1. After the turnoff, it’s a short ride (about 2 kilometers) to reach the crater.
