Getting There
Walking
If you're in the center of Hveragerdi, start by heading south on the main road, Sundabraut, towards the bus stop at Hveragerði. From there, you can catch a bus to Hafnarfjörður. Make sure you check the bus schedule for the right time. Once you arrive in Hafnarfjörður, disembark at the stop closest to the town center. From there, navigate towards the local landmark, Hafnarfjörður's old town, and continue on Brekkustígur street. Follow this street until it turns into Hringbraut. After about 1.5 kilometers, you should see signs directing you to Leiðarendi Lava Cave. Follow the signs, and you will reach the cave entrance.
Bus
From any point in Hveragerdi, walk to the nearest bus stop on Sundabraut. Wait for the bus heading to Reykjavík and make sure to inform the driver that your destination is Hafnarfjörður. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at Hafnarfjörður. Once you exit the bus, walk towards the center of the town and head towards Brekkustígur street. Follow Brekkustígur until it becomes Hringbraut and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers, where you will find signs for Leiðarendi Lava Cave.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Hveragerdi. Start by riding south on Sundabraut, then follow the road until you reach the outskirts of town. Continue heading southwest towards Hafnarfjörður. The ride is approximately 10 kilometers and will take you through beautiful Icelandic landscapes. Once you reach Hafnarfjörður, follow the signs to the Leiðarendi Lava Cave, which is about 2 kilometers from the town center.
