Walking
From the center of Hveragerdi, head towards the main road (Þjóðvegur) and turn left. Walk straight until you reach the bus stop (Hveragerði) where you can catch a bus to Reykjavík. Look for the bus marked 'Reykjavík' or '101'. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the bus stop 'Hlemmur' in Reykjavík. From Hlemmur, walk towards the waterfront, following the signs towards the Harpa Concert Hall. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach the Grandagarður street. The Saga Museum is located at Grandagarður 2, right on your left.
Public Transport
From Hveragerdi, take the local bus service (Strætó) from the main bus stop to Reykjavík. Buses typically run every 30-60 minutes. Make sure you check the current schedule at the bus stop. Once you arrive at the Hlemmur bus terminal in Reykjavík, exit the bus and head towards the waterfront. Follow the coastal path, and upon reaching Grandagarður street, turn left. The Saga Museum will be located at Grandagarður 2, on your left side.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Hveragerdi. Start by heading north on the main road (Þjóðvegur) towards Reykjavík. Follow the cycle paths that parallel the road, which will lead you directly to Reykjavík. Upon reaching the city, continue towards the Harpa Concert Hall, and then make your way along the waterfront to Grandagarður street. The Saga Museum is located at Grandagarður 2, and you will find it on your left.
