Car
From the central area of Kerlingarfjöll, head south on the main road (F347). Continue for about 6 kilometers until you reach the marked turnoff for Gýgjarfoss. This road is gravel, so drive carefully. Follow the signs towards Gýgjarfoss and park in the designated parking area. The waterfall is about a 15-minute walk from the parking lot.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, check the local bus schedules as they may not run frequently. Take a bus that heads towards Kerlingarfjöll, and request to be dropped off at the closest stop to Gýgjarfoss. From there, you will need to walk approximately 6 kilometers along the F347 road to reach the turnoff for Gýgjarfoss. Once you reach the parking area, the waterfall is about a 15-minute walk from there.
Hiking
For those looking for a more adventurous route, park your vehicle at the nearest accommodation or parking area in Kerlingarfjöll. From there, you can hike along the marked trails that lead towards Gýgjarfoss. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers and can take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
