Getting There

  • Car

    From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading north. After approximately 50 km, take the exit towards Route 37 and continue on this road. After about 25 km, you will see signs for Langjökull Glacier. Follow the road signs leading to the glacier area. Once you reach the Langjökull Glacier visitor center, park your vehicle. From the visitor center, you can either hike or join a guided tour that will take you to Sleðaásgjá.

    Take a bus from Reykjavik to Húsafell. Buses are available from the BSI bus terminal in Reykjavik. The journey takes around 2 hours. Once you arrive at Húsafell, you will need to arrange for a local tour operator that offers trips to Langjökull Glacier. These tours often include transportation to and from Sleðaásgjá.
