From Langjökull Glacier, drive southeast on Route 35 (Búðardalsvegur) for approximately 15 km until you reach the junction with Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1 (Þjóðvegur) heading east. Continue on Route 1 for about 40 km until you see the signs for Ytri Tunga. Take the exit toward Ytri Tunga, and follow the road signs for 10 km until you arrive at the Ytri Tunga parking area. Make sure to park in the designated space.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, take a bus from the nearest town, such as Reykholt, to the main road (Route 1). Once you get to Route 1, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to Ytri Tunga, as public transport does not directly reach the site. Ensure to check the local bus schedules ahead of time, as they can vary. The taxi ride from Route 1 to Ytri Tunga should take approximately 15-20 minutes and cost around 5,000 ISK.
