Car
From the main road (Route 1), take Route 35 towards Þingvellir. After approximately 35 km, take a left onto Route 550 towards Húsafell. Continue on Route 550 for about 50 km until you reach the entrance to the Langjökull Glacier area. Follow the signs for Eiríksjökull. You will need a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the rough terrain. Once you are in the vicinity of the glacier, look for marked trails or parking areas that lead towards Eiríksjökull.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Reykjavik to Húsafell. The bus operates several times a day and the journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival in Húsafell, you may need to arrange a 4x4 taxi or tour service that offers trips to the Eiríksjökull glacier area. Be sure to check the schedules in advance, and confirm availability as these services may not run frequently.
Hiking
If you are already in the Langjökull Glacier area and prefer to hike, look for marked hiking trails leading towards Eiríksjökull. You can start from the nearest parking area or designated campsite. Make sure to equip yourself with a map, compass, and plenty of water. The hike can take several hours depending on your fitness level and the trail's difficulty.
