Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Ísafjörður. Head southeast on Route 61 towards Þingeyri. After approximately 45 km, merge onto Route 60 and continue for about 15 km until you reach Route 605. Turn left onto Route 605 and follow the signs for Sunset View Point. The destination will be on your right after about 5 km. Parking is available at the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take a bus from Ísafjörður to Þingeyri. Buses typically run several times a day. Once you arrive in Þingeyri, you may need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Sunset View Point, as public transport does not extend directly to the viewpoint. Expect taxi fares to be around 5,000 ISK for a one-way trip. It's advisable to check the bus schedule in advance, as services can be limited.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider cycling from Ísafjörður. The route is approximately 65 km one way and will take you through beautiful Icelandic landscapes. Follow Route 61 towards Þingeyri, then Route 60, and finally Route 605. Ensure you are prepared for the weather conditions and have enough water and snacks for the journey.
Hiking
For the more adventurous spirit, you can hike to the viewpoint from nearby trails. If you are already in the vicinity of Þingeyri, there are several hiking paths leading toward Sunset View Point. Ensure you have a map or GPS, as trails may not always be well-marked. This option is best for experienced hikers and should be approached with caution due to the rugged terrain.
