From the center of Saudarkrokur, start at the town's main square. Head south towards the coast on the main road (Kirkjubraut). Continue walking along this road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach a fork. Take the right path that leads towards the Vatnshlíðarvatn area. Follow the signs for Vatnshlíðarvatn, and after approximately 1 kilometer, you will see the entrance to the nature preserve on your left.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the main square in Saudarkrokur. Ride south on Kirkjubraut, following the coast. After about 1.5 kilometers, look for the right turn towards Vatnshlíðarvatn. This bike-friendly road will take you directly to the nature preserve. The total distance is approximately 3 kilometers.
Public Transport
Currently, there are no direct public transport routes to Vatnshlíðarvatn. However, you can take a local bus from the main bus station in Saudarkrokur towards nearby towns and ask the driver to drop you off at the closest point to Vatnshlíðarvatn. From there, you might need to walk for about 2 kilometers to reach the preserve.
