Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the center of Seydisfjordur at the marked bus stop (Seydisfjordur bus station). Head southeast along the main road (Avenue Seydisfjordur) towards the bridge over the river. Cross the bridge and continue straight on the road until you reach the intersection with Fljotsdalsvegur. Turn left onto Fljotsdalsvegur. Follow this road for about 7 kilometers. You will see signs for Hengifoss as you approach. The trailhead is located on the left side of the road, and you will find a parking area where you can start your hike.

  • Biking

    If you have rented a bicycle in Seydisfjordur, begin your journey by pedaling south from the main square. Take the route along the waterfront, enjoying the scenic views. Continue along the main road (Avenue Seydisfjordur) until you reach the bridge. Cross the bridge and keep cycling straight on the main road until you arrive at Fljotsdalsvegur. Turn left onto Fljotsdalsvegur. The Hengifoss trailhead is about 7 kilometers ahead on your left, where you can lock your bike and begin your hike.

  • Hiking

    If you prefer to hike directly to Hengifoss, start your trek from Seydisfjordur by following the path that leads towards the hills behind the town. Ascend the hill until you reach the main road (Fljotsdalsvegur). Once you reach the road, turn left and walk along the road for about 7 kilometers. You will see signs for Hengifoss, indicating the trailhead on your left. This route provides beautiful views of the surrounding landscape as you approach the waterfall.
