If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major town, Reykjanesbær. From Reykjanesbær, take Route 43 towards Grindavík. After about 10 km, merge onto Route 427, which will take you directly towards Fagradalsfjall. Continue on Route 427 for approximately 15 km until you reach the parking area for the Fagradalsfjall hiking trail. The parking lot is well-marked and may have a small fee, typically around 1,000 ISK for parking.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to Grindavík. The bus service is operated by Strætó and typically runs several times a day. Once in Grindavík, you will need to take a taxi or a local shuttle service to reach the Fagradalsfjall parking area. It is advisable to check the latest bus schedules as they can vary. Taxis can cost around 5,000-7,000 ISK from Grindavík to the parking area.
Hiking
