Car
If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards Þingvellir National Park. Depending on your starting location in the Southern Region, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) and follow the signs for Þingvellir. Once you reach Þingvellir, look for Valhallarvegur road. Öxarárhólmi is located near the helicopter landing pad at the coordinates 7V5J+Q23. Make sure to park at the designated parking areas within the park, as parking fees may apply (approximately 1,000 ISK for the day). After parking, follow the paths leading into the park to reach the Öxarárhólmi area.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take the Strætó bus service from Reykjavik to Þingvellir National Park. Check the Strætó website for the latest schedule and routes (Route 5 or 6 may be applicable). Once you arrive at the Þingvellir bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Öxarárhólmi. Follow the signs for the park's visitor center and then head towards Valhallarvegur road, keeping an eye out for the Öxarárhólmi area along the way. Be aware that public transportation might have limited schedules, especially during off-peak seasons.
