Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest main road, Route 1 (the Ring Road). From Route 1, take Route 26 towards Þingvellir National Park. After approximately 50 km, turn onto Route 35 towards Geysir. Continue on Route 35 for about 30 km until you reach the junction with Route F35, which leads into the Highlands. Drive on F35 for about 45 km, keeping an eye out for signs directing you to Laugahraun. The lava field is located at approximately 63.9885° N, 19.0726° W. There is no entrance fee, but ensure your vehicle is suitable for Highland roads.

To reach Laugahraun by public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from Reykjavík to Gullfoss or Geysir, operated by Strætó. The bus ride usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours, and you should check the latest schedules on their website. Upon arrival at Geysir, you will have to hire a taxi to take you to Laugahraun, as public transportation does not directly reach the lava field. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes and may cost approximately 10,000 - 15,000 ISK, depending on the driver and exact distance.
