To reach Þórsmörk by car, start from Hvolsvöllur. Drive on the Þórsmerkurvegur road (Road 249) towards Þórsmörk. The road is accessible for 2WD vehicles up to the first river crossing. After that, you will need a 4x4 vehicle due to the river crossings and rough terrain. Follow the road for approximately 30 km until you reach the entrance to Þórsmörk. There are parking areas available near the visitor center.

Take a bus from Reykjavík to Hvolsvöllur. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Hvolsvöllur, transfer to a specialized bus service that takes you directly to Þórsmörk. Note that this bus service is typically available only during the summer months, and you should check the schedule in advance. The bus ride from Hvolsvöllur to Þórsmörk takes about 1 hour and costs approximately ISK 3,000-4,000 round trip.
