Car
If you're traveling by car from nearby towns in the Western Region, head towards Þingvellir National Park. From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. After about 45 km, take the exit for Route 36 towards Þingvellir. Follow Route 36 for approximately 30 km until you reach the park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Hakið, which is located at coordinates 64.255187, -21.128438. Note that parking fees may apply, approximately ISK 750 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Reykjavik to Þingvellir National Park. Bus services such as Sterna or Strætó operate routes to Þingvellir, but check the schedule in advance as services may vary. Once you arrive at the Þingvellir bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 2 km to reach Hakið. Follow the signs towards the visitor center and then to the Hakið viewpoint.
