Car
If you are traveling by car, head to the town of Hafnarfjörður. From Reykjavik, take Route 41 heading south. Continue on this route until you reach the roundabout at the intersection of Route 41 and Route 43. Take the second exit onto Route 43 towards Hafnarfjörður. Follow Route 43 until you reach Hafnarfjörður. Once in the town, navigate to Hellisgata. Hellisgerði is located at Hellisgata 3, which is a short drive or walk from the center of town. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Hellisgerði using public transportation, take the Strætó bus service from Reykjavik to Hafnarfjörður. You can catch the bus at BSI Bus Terminal in Reykjavik. Look for buses heading towards Hafnarfjörður, such as Route 1 or Route 5. The fare is approximately 500 ISK for a single journey. Alight at the Hafnarfjörður bus terminal. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Hellisgerði. Head northeast on Hafnarfjarðarvegur, turn right onto Hellisgata, and continue until you reach Hellisgerði at Hellisgata 3.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can also take a taxi from Reykjavik to Hellisgerði. The taxi ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes and should cost around 5,000 to 7,000 ISK depending on traffic and the exact pickup location. Simply ask the driver to take you to Hellisgata 3 in Hafnarfjörður.
