Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords. Take Route 61 south towards Þingeyri. After approximately 45 kilometers, turn onto Route 63 towards Flókalundur. Continue driving for about 25 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 62. Take Route 62 towards Hornstrandir. Be prepared for a rough gravel road. Follow Route 62 for about 18 kilometers. You'll see signs directing you towards Hornbjarg. The drive may take around 2-3 hours depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, start in Ísafjörður and take a bus to Þingeyri operated by Strætó. Once in Þingeyri, you will need to arrange for a taxi or local transport to take you to the Hornstrandir area as there are no direct bus services to Hornbjarg. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary seasonally. The taxi fare from Þingeyri to Hornbjarg can cost around ISK 15,000-20,000.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous and are already in the Hornstrandir nature reserve, consider hiking to Hornbjarg. There are several marked trails in the area.
