Car
If you are driving, make your way to the main road, Þjóðvegur 1 (Ring Road), and follow the signs for the ferry terminal to the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Heimaey Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately 1,500 ISK for adults. Upon arriving at Heimaey, drive towards the center of town and follow the signs directing you to Stórhöfði. You will eventually reach a fork in the road where you will need to turn left onto a gravel road that leads directly to Stórhöfðaviti. The drive from the town to the lighthouse is about 10 minutes.

Public Transportation
To reach Stórhöfðaviti by public transportation, first take the ferry from the mainland to Heimaey Island. The ferry ride takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Heimaey, you can take a local bus (check local schedules) or join a guided tour that includes a stop at Stórhöfðaviti. If you take the bus, ask the driver to let you off at the closest stop to Stórhöfði, and from there, you may need to walk about 20 minutes along the marked paths to reach the lighthouse.

If you are already on Heimaey and prefer to walk, you can start from the town center. Head south towards the coast and follow the trails leading to Stórhöfðaviti. The hike takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and check the weather conditions before you set off, as the terrain can be uneven.
