Getting There

    If you are driving, make your way to the main road, Þjóðvegur 1 (Ring Road), and follow the signs for the ferry terminal to the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Heimaey Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately 1,500 ISK for adults. Upon arriving at Heimaey, drive towards the center of town and follow the signs directing you to Stórhöfði. You will eventually reach a fork in the road where you will need to turn left onto a gravel road that leads directly to Stórhöfðaviti. The drive from the town to the lighthouse is about 10 minutes.

    To reach Stórhöfðaviti by public transportation, first take the ferry from the mainland to Heimaey Island. The ferry ride takes around 30 minutes.
