Car
If you're driving, start by taking the ferry from the mainland to the Westman Islands. Once you arrive, head towards the main road (Road 1). Drive eastward along the coast, enjoying the scenic views. After approximately 25 minutes, you will reach a junction. Turn left onto Road 261 towards Skógafoss. Follow this road for about 10 minutes, and you will see the waterfall on your right. There is a parking area near the waterfall where you can safely leave your car.

For public transportation, check the local bus schedule on the Westman Islands. You can take the bus from the main town, Heimaey, which usually has services heading towards popular tourist spots. Confirm the bus route that goes to Skógafoss. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Be sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach Skógafoss, as it is a popular stop, and the bus will have a designated drop-off point nearby. From the bus stop, it’s a short walk to the waterfall.
